Donating to the PenDems for 2008
Pendems were able to change things a lot in 2006. That election was not the same tired old monologue -- Republicans were forced to discuss their ideas and policies and it has made a huge difference. One of the big reasons this happened is Dems stepped forward to support the County Party in many ways, including financially.

If you haven't done it already, sign on to the website and make your commitment to support Democratic candidates in 2008 with a monthly contribution starting now. Even small amounts add up, and regular contributions are wonderful because they both add up and provide for continuing expenses like office rent, phone, website, etc... If the half of the recipients of this e-newsletter donate the equivalent of two drive-through coffees ($5) a month we will be in a great position to support our candidates in 2008.  Sign up! It's easy. http://www.pendem.org/donate.php For more information, on this and other ways to support the PenDems financially, contact our treasurer, Nadine Thomas (email: treasurer@pendem.org).

Pendems made a great showing at the fair!

Thanks to the hard work by the many that came forward to help with our booth, the PenDemorandum now goes to no less than 375 people, and we also had a chance to talk to many people about our values and speculate about the Presidential primary.  Some pictures can be seen on the PenDem blog:
http://penndemocrats.blogspot.com/2007/08/central-states-fair-pictures.html

Remember to mark your calendars for:

[PenDems (29)] Be a Democratic values voter TODAY in Rapid City

Just a friendly reminder: don't forget to vote in the municipal elections. The polls are open 7 to 7 TODAY.

This is a non-partisan race, so the Pennington County Democratic Party is not endorsing candidates. That said, several PenDems have reminded me that Tom Johnson is a Democrat and proudly tells people so in his campaign materials. That sure is a sweet thing to hear!

Whoever you vote for, please make sure you vote. Local elections traditionally have lower turnout and the results directly affect our lives, so this is a critical moment to make your Democratic values heard!

Hot Springs also has elections today, with a key mayoral race.

Toda'y's elections in Rapid City include mayor, council, and school board races. Pennington County voters can find election information (including sample ballots) at:

PenDems Celebrate Cinco De Mayo

Here are some pictures from the First Annual Cinco De Mayo Fiesta held on May 5, 2007. What a great gathering it was of PenDems and others in the community in honor of Teri Powell and the values we share, full of fun and adventure!
Unless otherwise noted, photos are courtesy of Suzanne Iudicello. Thanks Suzanne!

We sold more than 1600 raffle tickets for the Mexican Get-Away Trip for Two. Martha Studt of Custer won the grand prize drawing. Volunteers (from left) Lois Facer, Jean Katus, Kim Henderson and Thea Geotas get ticket stubs into the raffle barrel.

The Central High School Spanish Club sold sopapillas at the Cinco de Mayo Fiesta.

Suzanne and Tom did some door prize drawings and of course the big raffle drawing. Also, a few nifty items were also auctioned to benefit the PenDems. (Photo: Price)

The Munoz family put on a feast of enchiladas.

Kids and adults alike enjoyed the parrots.

Music by Impacto Norteno brought sunshine and fiesta atmosphere, despite the downpour on Cinco de Mayo. More than 400 people celebrated the First Annual Teri Powell Memorial Family Fiesta with the Pennington County Democratic Party. Impacto Norteno traveled to Rapid City from Omaha. Their authentic, high energy music made the fiesta a success.

Serenade!
