Be a groupie!

This is a wonderful opportunity for the Lawrence County Party to raise substantial funds to help our state legislative and county commission candidates and increase our visibility/credibility within the community.

To make certain the event is a total success they have need of volunteers to help sell and take tickets at the door, sell beverages and snacks, and help out in general. Pennington County Dems are invited to help! If, in addition to buying a ticket to the concert, you would like to further help and support our fellow Dems and play a special part in this unique event by volunteering, please call Bob Wilson, Lawrence County Chair, at 717-3220.

[PenDems (91)] See you at the Heritage Fest!

SUCCESSFUL CONVENTION
Last weekend we had a very successful convention. Party platform planks and resolutions were completed, and after the Convention concluded, the State Central Committee selected delegates for our National Convention in Denver. Special speakers included Sen Tim Johnson, Sen George McGovern, State Sen Scott Heidepriem, and Johnson campaign manager Steve Jarding. And... we got pictures: http://www.qurl.com/cfzr9
There are also reports and video at http://badlandsblue.com.

At the Central Committee meeting, directly after the convention was completed on Saturday, four West River delegates were chosen to represent South Dakota at the National Dem Convention in Denver: Malcom Chapman, Martin Yeung, and Cecilia Fire Thunder will join sitting delegate Russell Blacksmith (who was elected in March). (Tom Katus missed the cut by just a few Obama votes in the June 3 primary.)

Presidents Day Parade pictures!
Those out of town at Convo missed a great parade on June 28. PenDems were on the scene, spreading the good word that we have great candidates that are ready to serve on Day One in Pierre!

Heritage Fest Help Needed, July 3-6
Come see us this weekend at the Heritage Festival! If you can help, we can use your assistance. You can sign up! on th web, email democrats@pendem.org, or call 716-3391, or 721-1636.

CAMPAIGN ON!
With the opening of offices for Sen. Johnson, Rep. Herseth Sandlin, the coordinated statewide campaign, and races for all our local legislative seats, the need for volunteers is upon us. Whether you want to get your exercise walking door to door or would rather answer phones or input data, we have jobs for volunteers. Call 721-1636 or email democrats@pendem.org, and a campaign volunteer or staffer will help you find the best fit for your time and talents.

The Office
No, not the cult movie, we're talking about the campaign office. We haven't had the entertaining drama like the Republican office, but we are open, and truly great things are happening down there.

The Pendem "Blue Phone" (721-1636) is hooked up, and you can come by sign up to help. We're on West Main, right between Fischer's Furniture's construction site, and Walgreens:
552 Kirkeby Lane Suite 2
Rapid City, SD 57702
716-3391

We need help organizing, putting up signs, decorating, and so on.
Please feel free to come by and check out the space (there's a
cool "war room" downstairs, etc) and help out. If you can drop by
Wednesday it would be a great help.

Cookies are also appreciated.. union-made especially appreciated!
