[PenDems (122)] Something's happening... be part of it!

 PenDemorandum

This came from SD Dem Party Executive Director Rick Hauffe this morning:

Today, the Cook Political Report moved South Dakota from the "lean Republican" column to a "toss up" state.

With the momentum of the last week building for Obama, South Dakota may end up a blue state on Tuesday night.

Only two other Democrats have the distinction of winning South Dakota's three electoral votes: FDR and LBJ.

South Dakota Democrats are in line to make history ... except we can't do it by sitting and waiting for the result.  When you are asked to help as a volunteer, go for it.  If your local candidates haven't asked for your help, call them!

Get out there and drop lit, call your friends, get out the vote and fight.

Our own excellent and tireless Coordinated Campaign staffer and dedicated blogger Tyler Smith shared this encouragement:

Be sure to get out and vote and get to work. This is one of those elections that all of us, Democrats or Republicans, who care about this country dream about. It is an election that has created many memories for all of us. Now that it is ending what will be your last memory? Make sure your last memory of this election is one where you are working hard for your candidate.

Tyler's report from today  (with pictures!)

West River Candidates at RC Journal

Early in October, the Rapid City Journal published answers to a questionnaire they sent to candidates. It's a useful guide to see the differences between the candidates.

So, please check it out and see what your candidates said, and also please feel free to fact check, comment, and share the site with your friends... there are differences!!

RAPID CITY JOURNAL ELECTION '08

These questions are answered by all the candidates that submitted responses:

  1. What is the first piece of legislation you would like to sponsor?
  2. What is the number one issue facing voters in my District?
  3. How should the state respond to transportation department funding shortages caused by falling tax revenues?
  4. Do you support term limits on legislators?
  5. What are the problems [if any] with education funding?
(Yes, the RCJ said "if any" on the candidate questionnaire, but they left that off the published version on the web for some reason)

Help With Montana!

You live near an important battleground state -- Montana -- where supporters like you are playing a huge role in helping put Barack over the top.

This weekend, the Montana Campaign for Change is organizing teams of Obama supporters from neighboring states to come to Montana for a Drive for Change weekend canvass.

Sign up to come to Montana and help Barack and Democrats up and down the ticket by talking to undecided voters.

Right now, the race in Montana is extremely close. The final outcome could come down to as little as a few thousand votes. That's why the Montana Campaign for Change is depending on you to help make a big difference in the race.

Undecided voters in Montana need to hear Barack's message about fixing the economy, and the campaign is counting on you to tell them why the Obama-Biden ticket is the right choice in this election.

Please Drive for Change this weekend and help make a big difference in Montana:

http://my.barackobama.com/cometoMT

No prior experience is required to get involved. Staff will provide you with everything you need.

Carrie Glenn
Field Director
Montana Campaign for Change

P.S. -- Want to help make change in Montana, but can't take a trip right now? Reach out to Montana voters over the phone using our Neighbor to Neighbor tool and talk to undecided voters right from your home:
