3. Republican tax law bad news for families in SD
WASHINGTON (AP) - Taxpayers in eight states without an income tax could soon lose the ability to deduct state sales tax from their federal income tax returns.Another example that Democrats have the answers these days: this recent tax bill passed by our Republican-controlled House of Representatives. A 70-billion tax cut aimed at the wealthy that will deepen our fiscal crisis and at the same time leave most families further behind, especially those in South Dakota.

2. SD Healthy Families Drive-Thru Petition Drive
From The SD Campaign for Healthy Families:
Our biggest event this week is our Drive-Thru Petition Drive on Saturday, May 6th, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Founders Park on Omaha just west of West Blvd. (with the concrete fish). We'll be set up on both sides of Omaha. There will be a reporter from the New Yorker covering the event. Here's the thing, a local Rapid City church has organized a "Walk for Life" rally to begin at Memorial Park (Civic Center) at 9 a.m. We can't guarantee that we'll have these pro-life counter protesters at our petition drive, but it's more than likely. Every time we've come up against them before, at the Pro-Choice Rally and the Thank Dr. Buehner Rally, we've had at least double their numbers. LET"S DO IT AGAIN! Please come if you can, and spread the word to everyone you know.
3. PenDems PHOENIX Event, in progress
The Phoenix event is happening.. during this week you should be hearing from Democrats! If you are helping call people, please bring your petitions to Dunn Bros. this coming Friday at the Forum...
