We have an election coming up on Tuesday, June 6.
In Rapid City, the the vote will include an up or down vote on zoning changes on Route 16. (A "Yes" vote will allow Wal-Mart [and other retailers] to build.) There are also several primary elections and nonpartisan contests at the city, county and state level. If you have moved, or are not registered, the voter registration deadline is next Monday, May 22. It's very easy to register--more information (and sample ballots) are posted on the web at http://www.votepennco.com/ to choose who will represent the Democrats in November.

3. Republican tax law bad news for families in SD

WASHINGTON (AP) - Taxpayers in eight states without an income tax could soon lose the ability to deduct state sales tax from their federal income tax returns.

Another example that Democrats have the answers these days: this recent tax bill passed by our Republican-controlled House of Representatives. A 70-billion tax cut aimed at the wealthy that will deepen our fiscal crisis and at the same time leave most families further behind, especially those in South Dakota.
