Statewide Petitions (Pierre)
- County good government initiative, allows people to send county
land use decisions to a vote by referendum (see website) - Limits use of state aircraft for state business. (see website)
Remember, when downloading petitions, print them DOUBLE-SIDED. Petitions printed on two pages stapled together will not be accepted as valid!
You can get petitions validated by a notary at various places (must do this before turning them in), including your bank.
How to get petitions notarized and dropped off
How to get them notarized:
- various businesses during working hours
- Bear Butte party Monday afternoon sturgis (scroll down e-mail for details)
- SDPJC monday meeting May 1st in eve.
How to get them dropped off:
- Brett Healy will meet people at Denny's on Mt. Rushmore Rd (near Breadroot Food Coop) on Tuesday morning. He will leave promptly at 10 am to drive to Pierre
- Drop them at SDPJC meeting (St. Isaac Jogues church, 7 pm May 1) (they can be notarized at the meeting)
- leave at Norm Nelsons house( 1111 9th Street-- a bright yellow
house between, Clark and Fulton Streets - 343-4878) before Tuesday at 9 am.
Meade County Bear Butte petition

Meade county residents, allies and Bear Butte International Alliance members would like to cordially invite all Meade referendum
circulators to a Petition Drop Party at a 1508 Fulton St in Sturgis, on Monday, May 1 from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. A notary will be present to notarize your petitions.
Remember, you do not need to completely fill the petition. Every
valid signature you get is welcome, even if your total is only half a
dozen!
Bear Butte Rally- morning May 2nd Sturgis
Another Bear Butte Rally is being planned for May 2nd, when Meade County votes on another liquor license. Meade County; Commissioners set Gary Lippolds Rock n the Rally at Glencoe, Inc. liquor license application hearing for Tuesday, May 2 at 9:30a.m. -The Bear Butte International Alliance stands on its' initial position "NO MORE NEW ALCOHOL PERMITTING" until a buffer zone is established protecting the custom, culture and tradition of the people who regard Bear Butte as a sacred site.
