This just came across the wire. Elli is urging Thune to stand with Dr. James Dobson and his crew of out-of-state extremist right-wing Christian politicos at Mount Rushmore on Saturday. She also criticized him for being "weak" on the issue (see link below). Please call Thune's office @ 348-7551 and urge him to refuse to respond to this bullying from the right wing. This election, since he is in the middle of his term, he represents all of us, and should act like it and stay above this controversial ballot issue--and let the voters decide this one on its merits.
Also, please urge your moderate Republican friends to consider vote Democratic this year, to send a clear message to the SDGOP that their leadership is leading our state in the wrong direction. It's time to find common ground!

It is crucial that Senator Thune hear from his
constituents, particularly those who feel how
inappropriate it would be for him to stand shoulder to
shoulder with James Dobson and the like at this time.
South Dakota is divided enough right now, and this
would only further our divisions. Please call and let
your voice be heard. It is painless, and it only
takes a minute of your time.
